Year 2 receive homework in their homework books on Friday and have until the following Thursday to complete it.

The homework could be an activity based on the spelling pattern we have been learning about in class, an activity with links to our Maths work or a theme from our current topic. Sometimes homework is set on our ActiveLearn website and the required logins are stuck inside the front cover of their homework book.

We also recommend that you read with your child regularly at home to improve fluency and comprehension. Please ensure your child has their reading book in school every day even if they haven’t finished the book. As the books get longer, we don’t expect them to finish the book in one session.

In addition, three Learning Log projects are also set during the year. This is a chance for the children to have some freedom in the way they research and record their learning. The children are given two weeks to complete their Learning Logs and the weekly homework is suspended during this period. Themes for the learning logs are: The Great Fire of London, Castles and Around the World.

When homework is completed and returned to school, your child receives a fruit point. Extra points are given when the work is marked.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
