SEN Teaching Assistant – full time, Level 2

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teaching Assistant from January 2026 to work in our foundation class.

This is a rare opportunity to join our established team of staff.  We are a warm and friendly school where children thrive and enjoy their learning experience.

Our school motto is ‘A Happy School, A Brighter Future’, which is reflected in all that we do. We are committed to ensuring both staff and children enjoy their school day. This is why we have low staff turnover and are regularly oversubscribed.

We are a one-form entry primary school with 210 children who have remained within the Local Authority. Our lovely school opened in 1935 and is situated in the rural village of Northamptonshire surrounded by open fields and views across the countryside. We have excellent links to the A43 and A14.

The post will be supporting SEND children within the classroom throughout the day with specific targets and inclusion in the mainstream class routines. Ideally, you will have experience of supporting children with social, emotional and mental health barriers to learning, for example, ASD, ADHD and anxiety disorders.

What are we looking for in you?

  • An experienced colleague who is passionate, patient, compassionate and has the ability to provide a consistently nurturing presence
  • Have experience and training with SEN children
  • Have empathy with children and a caring personality
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Good communication skills
  • A good team member with a sense of fun

In return, our successful teaching assistant will receive the following:

  • The chance to become part of Team Broughton
  • The opportunity to assist with the learning of well-behaved children who want to learn
  • Belong to a team who will help you to grow and contribute to the school

If you would like to visit the school please email bursar@broughtonprimary.northants-ecl.gov.uk to make an appointment.

Broughton Primary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.  We would like to inform you that online searches may be done as part of due diligence checks in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidelines.
